The title is the follow up to 2010's successful Transformers: War for Cybertron, and will once again be developed by High Moon Studios. In addition to Grimlock, the game will feature returning playable characters including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Jazz. Transformed, Grimlock gains a new arsenal of moves ranging from stomping, biting, and swiping with his tail to a hidden flamethrower. While other characters can transform at any time, Grimlock must build a rage meter by attacking enemies in order to transform into a giant mechanical tyrannosaurus rex. Grimlock's transformation also functions differently than other characters.

The sword can be used for slashing combos, while his shield deflects attacks or can be used to push enemies away. Unlike the other characters in the game who will use firearms, Grimlock is a melee character using a sword and shield.
